Baahubali 2 creates History while Dangal start it’s China chase

This weekend saw two biggest Indian films flexing their muscles in international market. Baahubali The Conclusion continued its winning run raking in biggest 2nd weekend ever in Overseas while Dangal had a brilliant debut in China.

Starting with Baahubali 2, it grossed $7.05mn in 2nd overseas frame taking its 10 days Cume at $35.1mn (₹225 cr), Global gross up at ₹1070 cr. This also make the film biggest ever grosser in Overseas without China. From here $40mn is certainty while it may extend upto $44-45mn before that big China release late this year. North America and UAE remains top earners with $16.5mn & $5.7mn (2nd biggest of all time) but it’s Australia, New Zealand and Nepal those have really outperformed. Breaking collection region wise, we have

  • North America : $16.5mn
  • Middle East : $7.4mn
  • Asia : $4.87mn
  • Europe and Africa : $2.95mn
  • Oceania : $3.4mn

Dangal started its journey in Middle Kingdom which looks like will be real big. Film had a decent Friday but it was Saturday and Sunday which turned the economics of film. Film debuted with $10.7mn on some 90,000 screening over the weekend. From this start, especially the trend, $40mn lifetime seems like a possibility which will make it 2nd Indian film to gross ₹1000cr globally after Baahubali 2, but for that there is still a long way ahead. Not skipping film crossed ₹800 cr gross earlier on Sunday night.
