Baahubali on its Conclusion while Hindi Medium got the legs

Baahubali The Conclusion dominated yet another week of May 2017 which has turned out as Biggest Month ever at Indian Box Office. There were 2 new Bollywood releases, Half Girlfriend and Hindi Medium both having just decent numbers but it was trend of latter which stands out.

Baahubali 2 added ₹81.04cr to its running tally in 4th week which now stands at ₹1248 cr. Numbers are highest ever for fourth week eclipsing Baahubali The Beginning. Week on Week drop was 52.63℅ which was steepest till now. With another $44.62mn or ₹288 cr from Overseas, it’s global gross now stands at ₹1536 cr. For those interested in weekly breakdown.

  • Week 1 : ₹654.84 cr
  • Week 2 : ₹340.65cr -47.98%
  • Week 3 : ₹171.51cr -49.65%
  • Week 4 : ₹81.23cr -52.63%

Film has almost done it’s major part of business but still legs are strong enough to add another ₹50cr to 75cr which will make it 1st film to gross $200mn in India, though a lot will depend on forex rates for that matter.

In second place Half Girlfriend scored ₹65.5cr on 2500 screens. Numbers are decent for the cost involved but way below the industry expectations. In Overseas film was pretty dull with $1.8mn, giving it a global cume of ₹77.1cr. Film doesn’t have those great legs to pull it up and quite possibly it may be scoring lower than our 2nd runner up this week Hindi Medium which grossed ₹28.25cr in its 1st Week. What make it impressive despite being less than a half of Half Girlfriend is the fact that it’s weekdays gross was almost same to its weekend. Film is certainly going to gross ₹50cr which will be brilliant for cost involved.

Elsewhere in Top 5, Telugu film Keshava grossed ₹11cr while Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thorae grossed ₹6cr Approx. Malayalam film Godha grossed ₹5.3cr in its 1st Week in India. Lahoriye grossed ₹2.85cr in its 2nd Week taking its 2 weeks cume up at ₹11.7cr.
