What’s in a name? Well box office yesterday was just about the names of the film.
Baadshaho took the crown followed by Paisa Vasool which took career’s 2nd best start for Nandamuri Balakrishna. Baadshaho had #1 spot, however, it managed only ₹12.2cr, which is little below what it should have done. This is lower than Shivaay’s ₹12.68cr last year, which came during Pre Diwali and clash with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. However here cost is bit lower and initial reports are bit better. It will be upcoming days which will decide if film can get better off. The film should earn between ₹45-48cr over the weekend, depending on how Eid holiday work for film. Internationally film had better start than other Ajay Devgn films at $600k approx till Friday, with Gulf accounting for 2/3rd of that.
Paisa Vasool was the next best film with ₹11.3cr on Friday across India. It missed the #1 by a rather small margin than anyone could have expected. For NBK Opening day numbers are only lower than Gautmiputra Satakarni earlier this year. Though that was a much bigger film compared to this. Reports aren’t that encouraging but even a decent trend should see film in black after this start.
Shubh Mangal Savdhan marks 3rd release for Ayushmann Khurana this year while 2nd in last 30 days. As it goes opening day numbers get better with each release though all on lower side. It grossed ₹3.4cr on Friday on 1400 screens. Audience reports are quite similar to Bareilly Ki Barfi which grossed ₹3cr on Day 1, heading for a ₹40cr closing. A similar trend here can see film going par ₹45cr, even ₹50cr in case of overperformance.
