Start to the end of, what has been a disastrous quarter so far, was quite okayish. Baadshaho scored an easy #1, more than double of the 2nd best. Overall Top 5 aggregated ₹145cr, up 27% from last week. This is something remarkable but yet 2nd Biggest week of ongoing Quarter. In industry’s present situation, anything not Below Average will be taken open armed, and this was Average atleast.
Baadshaho grossed ₹69.8cr in its opening week, following a weekend of ₹45.4cr, earning ₹29cr Approx share. Film hadn’t much going for it from day one, with a dull marketing and average reports. It had benefit of Eid festivity during first 5 days but numbers aren’t simply not that good. Shubh Mangal Shavdan debuted at #3 in weekend but moved to #2 in weekly chart. It grossed ₹30.24cr during its opening week. This is biggest 1st week for lead actor in career span of 5 years besting Nautanki Saala. Film had good weekend trend, however weekdays could had been a bit better. Still film is on line to gross ₹50cr and may emerges Biggest grosser for Ayushmann Khurrana beating Vicky Donor. In year of Biggies sinking, these small films are bit relief but not big enough to keep it going.
At #3, Paisa Vasool joins list of “Box office Bombs”, grossing ₹27cr approx, earning ₹16.75cr approx share. Film had average start on Friday but crashed on following days. Weekdays of film accounted for mere 20% of Weekend which explain the going of film. Film required ₹30cr approx to “be in Black”, but quite possibly gross of film won’t reach there.
Among Holdovers, Vivegam grossed ₹10.6cr approx during its 2nd week, taking its cume at ₹81.05cr. From here film will cross Bairavaa’s ₹83.2cr in India by end of 3rd Weekend. Film crossed $4.96mn internationally at end of 2 weeks, Malayasia accounting for 28% of that.
Arjun Reddy grossed ₹9.3cr in its 2nd Week, down 58% from week 1. Drop could have been bit lower if not for competition from new release during weekend. In weekdays film was playing at #3 ahead of Paisa Vasool and Vivegam which means next week will be again good. Film currently stands at ₹31.15cr in India and will close in range of ₹41-42cr. Internationally it has grossed $1.78mn (₹11.4cr) so far for a global total of ₹42.25cr.
